Here i will put some info about my build and Testings-Tuning results!
These test i do now first is only to prepare the system before my Tournament-List can start with the best settings i can get out off this i9 7980XE system.
Using 7 Test Suites with 650 positions and run it each time with 5sec. 2sec. and 1sec./position and that for each engine.
All engines used 18cores
You can follow first tests here under Eng Test Suites (you can open it by clicking down under in window from spreadsheet): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11vXZe4Dm7nIXWIYD9EoZguR4xOuRWUQHpzSfQW2HaMo/edit#gid=2044907364
Everything just default settings from system and check difference between my i7 5960X @4.5Ghz 8cores with best settings and also between
18cores HT On and HT Off. Some remarks are added..will open when you move your mouse over it.
After that i will try different settings in system to make that as much possible background programs and services are closed!
And this is still on Base clock speed @2.6Ghz..so No overclocking..as i want first best settings and see if i gain something in my results and find more solutions..
First 15.600 positions tested:
Difference between i7 5960X @4.5Ghz 8cores and i9 7980XE @2.6Ghz 18cores
Used 4 engines : Komodo 1964.00 ,Houdini 6 Pro ,asmFish 2017-05-22 ,Stockfish 061217 with the same settings i used on my i7 5960X!
Stockfish find 69 solutions more
Houdini +80
asmFish +99
While Komodo had -9
I did a extra run ,with the thinking maybe something not right with BMI2 version and used now normal Komodo 1964.00
Result was better..getting now +26 position ,or 17 more then on my i7 5960X ..still low if you compare with other engines..will investigate later more!
Difference between 18cores HT On (36threads) and HT Off : These result are almost equal!
Later i do the same with HT On and let engines using 36threads.
Time for settings changes..
Sytem was already on High Performance
Put it via msconfig to: Adjust for best performance
I tried different Game Boosters..
Boot system into : Diagnostic mode & Selective startup..Services:Disable All ..Kill Explorer.exe
Did some tests:
i9 7980XE @Stock speed
Overhead ms both 300 else getting Time Forfaits ,engines playing with only 1core and 18games at the same time!

These tests above i wanted to know which Depth's i get with fast Time Controls on stock speed.
Because i want to have a compare before i start overclocking and what gain i will get in Depth!
It's clear that with these TC's not the time is important but the increments you give to these engines..
See 1m+5s gives higher depth's then 5m+1s games! would be important for Stockfish testframe for example.
These engines just play out a game with these increments..it doesn't matter if they get 1,2,3 or 5min + increments
The higher increment = higher depth's you get!
So i could continue do this till there is a turnaround that higher time gain more then increments..
That's for later..
I wanted also to reach Depth=30 and see in which TC i could get it ,and in shortest time to finish 100games.
Now it's time to install my new water-cooling loop!
Today i have checked where i will put all the parts inside and how i will root the tubings.
Hope everything will go well and then i will show some overclocking results!
It was easier then i thought..build up all parts..then make the right lenght from the tubings..
Take out the water-loop and test it on the table..fill up with water liquid ,checking for leaks and reduce the
air-bubbles..After that i install it into the system and start the system..
Here are the parts from the water-loop:
i9 7980XE default speed with AIO cooler Corsair H110i GTX testing whole day Max.Temp was 60°C ,now with my new water-cooling loop i get 35°C!
Time for some overclocking!!
I come from 60 to 35°C ,so i will check how high i can get till 60°C
I will keep the system @4.2Ghz with only 1,10Vcore and around 60°C!
In mean time testings are already busy..see list : http://www.ipmanchess.yolasite.com/i9-7980xe.php
